Sumac Powder

Sumac is obtained by drying and pulverizing the fruits of a shrub plant that grows locally in the Middle East. Sumac is a plant species belonging to the mahogany family, is widely used in Turkey and the Arab countries. Historically, it was known that the Romans used the sumac spice which they call Syrian sum to give the food a sour taste before discovering lemon.
